Record high 1,985 COVID-19 infections recorded in Egypt

The Egyptian Ministry of Health reported 1,985 new COVID-19 infections on Thursday, surpassing 1,910 cases registered a day earlier.

Nationwide infections have reached 417,453 while the death toll marked 22,496 and total patient recoveries currently stand at 351,418.

The Ministry revealed that it had administrated a total of 37.1 million first vaccine doses and 25.5 million second vaccine doses. A total of 568,000 booster shots have been inoculated in recent weeks.

Egyptian health authorities have so far managed to vaccinate a total of 63.2 million jabs Nationwide.

On Wednesday, the Ministry’s spokesman, Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar announced that the Ministry currently targets vaccinating 70% of population by mid-2022.
