Real Madrid, the Spanish champions of the European Champions League, won the European Super Cup for the fifth time in its history, by defeating Eintracht Frankfurt, the German champion of the “European League”, 2-0, Wednesday, in Helsinki.

Real owes this crown, which he added to his titles in 2002, 2014, 2016 and 2017, to the Austrian David Alaba and the French Karim Benzema, who scored the two goals in the 37th and 65th minutes, respectively, according to Agence France-Presse.

A special number for Carlo Ancelotti
And after he became the first coach to win the Champions League four times last May, Italian Carlo Ancelotti, the only coach to win the continental Super Cup for the fourth time as well, became the only coach with the record he shared with Josep Guardiola.

Ancelotti had previously won the Super Cup with the Royal Club in his first pass in 2014, and before that with Milan in 2003 and 2007.

Real Madrid has also become the most title-winning team (5 times) with local rivals Barcelona (1992, 1997, 2009, 2011, 2015) and AC Milan (1989, 1990, 1994, 2003 and 2007).

And by winning the Continental Cup, Real Madrid begins its season in the best way, relying on the stability factor in its quest to retain the domestic league titles and the European Champions League.
