France expands investment portfolio in Egypt

Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi discussed plans to expand bilateral trade with France and French investment in Egypt with French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire on Monday.

Le Maire reviewed opportunities to invest in eight main sectors, transportation, electric vehicles, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, digital services, recycling and the production of green hydrogen.

He voiced his country’s “eagerness to back the Egyptian development process, in the light of recent economic successes and its pivotal role in the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean”.

Le Maire revealed his visit marks the launch of projects funded by the ‘Comprehensive Finance Package’ signed between Egypt and France in June 2021.

The meeting was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology  Amr Talaat and Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea.
