Cairo hosts anti-human trafficking training programme

The Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCRPB)is running a training course on combating cross-border threats in the African Sahel region for diplomatic, judicial, military and police cadres from Mauritania, Mali, Nigeria, Guinea, Cameroon, Chad and Burkina Faso.

The programme is held under the title ‘Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants’ between 7 and 10 March. It covers the legal frameworks for combating human trafficking and migrant smuggling, regional cooperation and National experiences. It features the experience of the Egyptian National Coordinating Committee in Combating Irregular Migration and Human Trafficking.

“The training follows the guidance of CCCRPB efforts to build the capacities of African cadres in peace and security fields, especially in combating human trafficking and migrants smuggling”, CCCRPB Director Ahmed Abdel-Latif explained.

Elizabeth Gilgen, the deputy head of the Swiss mission in Egypt, praised the Egyptian policies dealing with irregular migration and human trafficking.

Founded in 1994 by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the CCCRPB is an Egyptian public agency tasked with training, capacity building and research in the fields of peace and security in Africa and the Middle East.
