The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population reported 946 new coronavirus cases, 68 deaths and 432 recoveries on Monday.

“A total of 344,907 cases have been reported in Egypt, which include 19,567 deaths and 288,114 recoveries”, the Ministry confirmed in a statement.

The country’s fourth wave of the virus is in full force, with daily infections recording ten times higher than what was recorded at the end of July. The Ministry has stated that official figures most likely represent only 10 percent of actual cases.

“Egypt has administrated a total of 38 million coronavirus vaccine doses so far, and spent over US$400 Million on vaccination efforts”, according to government official.

The Egyptian vaccination campaign began last January with priority groups and later expanded to university students and education staff. Registration for the jab is open to all. The country aims to vaccinate 40 million by the end of 2021.
