Under the title ‘The Secrets of Gold’, Secretary General of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mostafa Waziri, inaugurated a temporary exhibition at Luxor Museum highlighting the use of gold; in the fabrication of jewellery since ancient Egypt right through the Islamic era.
The exhibition is displaying a collection of 747 artefacts of different styles and designs of jewelleries, including bracelets, necklaces, earrings and collars as well as coins and gold sheets decorated with royal cartouches.
Most of the exhibited objects were unearthed in the Luxor temple and the white monastery in Sohag, while others were discovered in different archaeological sites.
