Rise in Egyptian COVID-19 infections and deaths

The Egyptian Ministry of Health reported “799 new coronavirus cases, 39 deaths, and 422 recoveries on Thursday. A total of 309,934 cases have been disclosed in Egypt, alongside 17,584 deaths and 261,612 recoveries”.

The country’s fourth wave of the virus infections is in full force, with daily figures ten times higher than what was recorded at the end of July.

“Over 13 million citizens have now received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while the number of citizens who received a second dose exceeded seven million”, Minister of Health, Hala Zayed, told a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Zayed noted, in a statement, “students studying abroad will be vaccinated and local university students who are 18 years and older”.
