Heavy rains, floods kill 12

Rain and floods: the country has been hit by a series of volatile storms, similar to those of 2013 and 2014

At least 12 people were killed in heavy rains and flooding in parts of Egypt on Friday, the health ministry said.

The toll included six people who died when a bus overturned on a flooded road in the southern province of Sohag.

Four people died in the east’s Red Sea province, the ministry said in a statement, without elaborating.

Rains in the fall and winter cause flooding in Egypt, leaving areas with poor infrastructure the worst affected, almost every year.
