“Egypt will donate 30 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to African countries”, President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi announced the pledge at the Africa Health ExCon conference in Cairo on Sunday.

The initiative will be fulfilled in coordination with the African Union. Sisi expressed readiness to cooperate with African nations in different fields. “The cooperation can extend to training programmes, education, treatment, transfer or exchange of expertise and drug manufacturing”, he explained.

Running until Tuesday, the Africa Health ExCon kicked off earlier Sunday at Al-Manara International Conference Centre in New Cairo. It showcases the latest technological advances and medical initiatives; supporting Africa ExCon as a sustainable platform to connect international healthcare partners.

The event is the largest medical exhibition in the continent with over 2,000 delegates representing government health entities from Africa and the Middle East. It features 350 sessions, 20 workshops and over 800 international medical speakers and experts.

On Sunday, over 350 companies operating in 102 countries unveiled their latest medical technology at the conference.
