Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita agreed to promote bilateral cooperation at a meeting in Rabat on Monday.
The two parties discussed reactivating all cooperation frameworks ahead of the higher Egyptian-Moroccan Committee meetings.
At the meeting, Shoukry reaffirmed the Egyptian support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its commitment to the UN-led process to settle the Western Sahara issue.
Shoukry stressed Egyptian “support for the content of Security Council resolutions, including resolution 2,602, which welcomed Morocco’s serious and credible efforts to move forward towards a political settlement of the Sahara issue”.
The ministers tackled a host of regional issues, including the long-standing dispute caused by the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and recent tensions in Palestine.
Egyptian exports to Morocco amounted to $661.6 Million in 2021, up from $437.4 Million a year prior, according to the latest figures released by the Export Development Authority of the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry.
