“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated”, CNBC qouted Elon Musk as saying on Monday.
Musk made the remarks in a statement in a released to press announcing a $44 Billion deal to buy Twitter.
“I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential. I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it”, he added.
On Monday, Twitter said that its shareholders agreed to sell the company to Elon Musk, in a deal valued at around $44 Billion. Under the terms of the deal, shareholders will receive $54.20 in cash for each share of Twitter stock they own.
The shareholder’s cut matches Musk’s original offer, which marks a 38% premium over the stock price the day before Musk revealed his stake in the company.
