Saudi Arabia reveal new Hajj pilgrimage regulations

The General Federation of Egyptians in Saudi Arabia revealed on Tuesday, the new Hajj pilgrimage regulations and expenses set for this year’s pilgrims.

“The kingdom will prevent visitors with tourism visas from Hajj. Their visas will be stamped to prevent them from performing the ritual, however, they are allowed to perform Umrah until the end of Ramadan month”, Vice President of the General Federation of Egyptians in Saudi Arabia Adel Hanafi told Mehwar TV on Tuesday.

The new regulations allow only fully vaccinated pilgrims to enter the Holy Land at the Hajj period. applications will not be accepted to perform Hajj from those who took part in the ritual less than five years ago.

“Egyptians who wish to perform Umrah must undergo 3-day quarantine in one of the approved hotels inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at their own expense”, Hanafi added.

“The cost of Umrah this year will be at least £E45,000, for the lowest category. Those who wish to perform the Hajj must apply to one of the companies approved by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities”, he explained.

People wishing to perform Hajj can check the approved companies by visiting the website of the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry and can obtain the Hajj visa from the Saudi consulate in Egypt.
