“To enhance visitors’ experience at archaeological sites and museums in Egypt, new environmentally friendly electric shuttles have been introduced at the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple on the Luxor’s West bank”, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced on Saturday.

According to the Ministry, “12 shuttles are currently operating at the Valley of the Kings and eight at Hatshepsut Temple in Deir Al-Bahari. The scheme will be expanded to other archaeological sites including the Saladin Citadel in Cairo”.

Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mostafa Waziri, said; “the new buses are part of the first stage of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ strategy for digitalisation, and service development provided to visitors at 30 archaeological sites”.

In 2021, the Ministry began rolling out electronic ticketing terminals and gates at several archaeological sites and museums in Egypt.

Those sites include the recently inaugurated National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), the Egyptian Museum, Saladin Citadel in Cairo and a number of sites in Luxor.
