EgyptAir announced the suspension of its flights to and from Toronto, Canada, starting from Thursday, 2 December, until further notice.

The decision was announced after Canada had barred the entry of people arriving from Egypt on Tuesday as a part of precautionary measures taken to confront the spread of the coronavirus mutant Omicron.

EgyptAir called on its customers “traveling to and from Toronto to review their bookings and amend their flight schedules by calling the Customer Service Centre at 1717 in Egypt, or via EgyptAir’s offices in Egypt and around the world.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE are the only two countries in the Middle East which announced detecting the first cases of the Omicron variant so far.
