Total COVID-19 cases in Egypt close to 359,000

The Egyptian Ministry of Health reported “949 new COVID-19 positive infections, 62 deaths, and 639 recoveries on Tuesday”.

A total of 358,578 cases have been reported in Egypt since the beginning of the pandemic with 20,474 deaths and 297,536 recoveries.

In response to global concerns over the transmission of the new ‘Omicron’ COVID-19 variant, the Supreme Committee for the Management of Coronavirus Crisis is currently looking at whether to reinstate some measures.

On 15 November, the government imposed a ban on all unvaccinated employees from their workplaces at all government facilities. Unvaccinated university students are banned from attending university classes. The ban includes barring unvaccinated citizens from entering government facility as of 1 December 2021.
