Visitors enjoyed the splendour of the great Egyptian antiquities with the enchanting harp melodies in the background at the ‘Ramses & The Gold of The Pharaohs’ exhibition in the American city of Houston.
In the early days of its opening, the exhibition saw a huge turnout of visitors from different age groups. Some 8,000 tickets were booked and sold in a few hours of the opening day. It is expected that the number of visitors will amount to 700,000 by the end of the exhibition.
“An Egyptian delegation from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities stood to welcome visitors, who expressed their fascination of the greatness of the Egyptian civilization”, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri said.
The ‘Ramses & The Gold of The Pharaohs’ exhibition showcases 181 artefacts, highlighting the distinctive characteristics of the ancient Egyptian civilisation. Exhibits display a group of statues, ornaments, paintings, stone blocks decorated with inscriptions, statues of deities in the form of birds and animals and several colourful wooden coffins from the Middle and Modern Kingdoms to the late era.
The Egyptian pavilion at the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences will broadcast live Egypt’s grand celebration of ‘The Sphinx Avenue’, which will take place on 25 November at 7:30 pm.
