The National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC) launched, Tuesday, a summer training programme dubbed ‘NMEC Summer School’. The training programme is tailored for students and graduates of the faculties of archaeology with its various departments including Egyptian antiquities, Islamic antiquities, and restoration.
The program provides archaeology students with an opportunity to experience the work environment in the museums, and to get acquainted with the museum’s role, which is not only a display of collectibles and artefacts, but also an integrated research and educational institution.
The training usually concludes with a visit to the museum’s scientific laboratories to learn about the various devices that examine and analyse antiquities.
“The cultural and educational activities carried out by the museum, including seminars, lectures, and scientific conferences, will play a great role in community awareness and will raise the intellectual level of all participants, specialists, workers and students”, Head of the Museum’s Authority, Ahmed Farouk Ghoneim, noted.
