Health officials record 932 cases, 44 deaths on Thursday

The Egyptian Ministry of Health confirmed “932 new coronavirus cases, 44 deaths and 800 recoveries on Thursday”.

There has now been a total of 265,489 confirmed cases, 15,222 deaths and 194,291 recovered cases reported in the country.

A country-wide partial lockdown aimed at curbing cases that has been in place since 6 May has ended on Tuesday.

All restaurants, cafés, shops, and malls can now resume normal business hours and stay open later than the previously enforced 9 pm curfew.

The Ministry of Health announced, on Thursday, that it has vaccinated all tourism workers in the Red Sea and South Sinai against COVID-19.

Egypt is currently using China’s Sinopharm vaccine and the UK’s Astra-Zeneca vaccine. It has plans to soon begin locally manufacturing the China’s Sinovac and Russia’s Sputnik-V vaccines.
