Liverpool Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah said, late on Wednesday, that winning the Premier League title is a “historic achievement for the club”.
“This is a historic day for the club, as we won the title after 30 years of absence”. Salah said after he received a Premier League medal.
The Egyptian winger wore the Egyptian flag during the ceremony, as he became the first Egyptian player to win a Premier League medal.
Salah added, “I am so happy to win the Premier League title after winning the UEFA Champions League title and the FIFA Club World Cup title. We missed our fans, but we will celebrate with them next season”.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson lifted the long-awaited trophy, in front of an empty Infield, facing the team, staff and the players’ families, who were given permission to attend the spectacular ceremony.
Henderson received the trophy from the club legend Kenny Dalglish, who was the team’s manager when the Reds last won the title in 1990.
