Cairo hosts the first ‘Middle East Music Event’

The first MEME (Middle East Music Event), begins on 9 January and continues until 11 January in Zed Park. The event will showcase performances from distinguished Egyptian and Middle Eastern talents.

Activities of the first day include concerts by the Egyptian bands Hawas, Massar Egbari, Jordanian bands Akher Zapheer and Autostrad. It will feature a concert for Egyptian singer Balqeis and Swedish band Tarabband.

Concerts by Egyptian bands Do’Souqa, Wust el-Balad, Sharmoofers, Lekhfa and Egyptian rapper Marwan Pablo will be staged on the second day, in addition to a concert for Jordanian bands Jadal and Ayloul.

The festival’s final day Performances will include six Egyptian bands; the Nubian band High Dam, Almena, Shabjdeed, Al Nather, Kahareb and Dina el-Wedidi in addition to Jordanian star Aziz Maraka.

The Egyptian band Sharmoofers has been recently awarded the English “Boisdale Music Award”, for The Best International Group; presented by the international British musician, artist and broadcaster Jools Holland.
