NYC sets up National Working Groups to follow government work

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Wednesday announced a number of decisions at the closing ceremony of the seventh National Youth Conference, aiming to involve the youth in state initiatives and the political process.

The conference was held in the New Administrative Capital on 30-31 July, with the participation of 1,500 young people representing the Egyptian society.

The President decreed the formation of working groups of the youth of the presidential program and the Egyptian universities, and researchers, to continuously contact the government and the state institutions within the framework of the national work.

He also decided to form youth working groups to assist state institutions to follow up and implement major national projects. The groups shall start working immediately under the supervision of the prime minister and relevant ministries.

The government should adopt the work on developing cultural project of Alexandria’s Ras Al-Tin area, upon a presidential decision, stressing the importance of implementing this project by real estate developers. The project was proposed by the youth during the conference.

Concerning the low-income segments of the society, Sisi ordered launching Hayah Karima (Decent Life), a national project for the development of the most needy villages, and achieving integration between the project and the national strategy to eradicate poverty.

The project should be implemented according to the model presented by the youth during the conference, Sisi said, which is based on achieving integration between the government and the civil society to reach the goals of sustainable development.

Sisi instructed the cabinet to quickly finalize a draft law for local administration and the Shura Council (Senate) to submit them to the parliament during the next session. He also urged starting immediately to train training and rehabilitate young people to practice local and political work.

The president entrusted the government to establish headquarters for the National Training Academy in the New Administrative Capital, in coordination with the academy. The new HQ should include a training centre for the Arab and African youth.

The cabinet is also tasked to launch a national project for digital transformation to implement the governance system at the state level. The project would be first experimented in Port Said governorate.
