Rooftop garden in Hong Kong

Egypt Today

Egypt launched an eco-friendly campaign to clean and plant rooftop gardens above all Cairo’s buildings within the framework of the governorate’s sustainable development plan, said Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal on Sunday.

The governor made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation of ‘Leaders of Sustainable Development’ and ‘Homeland acknowledgement 2030’ initiatives that were established to back the country’s strategy for sustainable development, Egypt Vision 2030.

Youth members of both initiatives will moderate awareness symposiums on methods and importance of the gardening of roofs of buildings.

Residents of the buildings will not bear the cost of planting their rooftop gardens, instead the government will do so and their only responsibility will be to preserve the gardens, the governor said.
