The Arab Tourism Ministerial Council elected Egypt to chair its executive board in 2021-2023, at the 24th council meeting in the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on Wednesday.
Tunisia was elected as a deputy chair and Morocco, Algeria, Iraq and Palestine became board members. The council’s meeting saw the selection of Jordan’s Madaba city the capital of Arab tourism for 2022.
The Arab Ministers recommended provide Palestine with technical support to develop its tourism industry. They equally urged touristic official institutions in Arab countries to offer humanitarian aid and developmental projects to the fellow Arab state, amid Israeli violations and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The council advised touristic official institutions in Arab countries to “help Libya implement the National Human Patrimony House.”
The Ministers underlined “the importance of setting a timeline for training courses and programs offered to Arab workers in the sector.” They also urged the need to create a unified vaccine accreditation system, in addition to making solid steps toward boosting inter-Arab tourism.
