The Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) inaugurated, on Wednesday, production lines for co-manufacturing laptops and tablets in partnership with the privately-owned Talal Abu Ghazaleh Organisation.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Communications and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat, Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea, Chairman of the state-owned AOI Abdel-Moniem al-Toras and Chairman of the Jordan-based Abu Ghazaleh organisation.
“This is a successful model for integration between the public and private sectors as part of the presidential initiative to expand on the local manufacturing of electronic devices”, Talaat said at the ceremony.
“Egypt aspires to become a regional hub for manufacturing and designing electronic devices”, he added.
“The project is a fundamental pillar to feed the Egyptian market with advanced electronic devices and export products to regional and global markets as well”, Gamea stressed.
Egypt has been pushing forward with efforts to expand reliance on e-learning. Such endeavours have been intensified with the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, because of which a hybrid learning system of online and in-person classes was adopted in Egyptian schools and universities to lessen crowding and contain the deadly virus.
