Egyptian Social Solidarity Minister Niveen el-Qabbag met UNICEF representative in Egypt Bruno Maes to discuss the 2020/2021 joint action plan. They emphasized the necessity to bolster cooperation with the UNICEF to promote the services of children protection and care sectors.

A number of issues were discussed including positive parenting education, social and economic development in North Sinai, refugees, combatting human-trafficking, social care and protection.

Qabbag highlighted the important role of the ministry on positive parenting education, noting that the ministry is currently restructuring social protection and care sectors; also working on building capacities for NGOs after enacting a law on that score.

Both sides agreed on organizing visits to centres of human trafficking victims and holding workshops on social protection.
